CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF HEARING IMPAIRMENT
The cochlea is located deep in the ear. Here are sensory cells with thousands of small vibrating hairs. Under the influence of noises that are too loud, such as wind noises, damage can occur to these vibrating hairs. If the vibrating hairs are damaged, they transmit no or false information to the brain. As a result, you may hear worse, you may hear a beep or a noise (tinnitus), you may become hypersensitive to certain sounds (hyperacusis), you may hear distorted sounds (distortion), or you may hear different sounds with both ears (diplacusis).
HOW CAN YOU AVOID HEARING DAMAGE ON YOUR MOTORCYCLE?
Hearing damage is not curable, but it can be easily avoided. Wearing good hearing protection will prevent wind noise on the motorcycle from damaging your hearing. FILTER EARPLUGS VERSUS FOAM EARPLUGS
When we talk about earplugs, many people think first of the standard foam earplugs. These earplugs are less expensive and of course they dampen harmful noises, but they still have a number of disadvantages compared to filter earplugs for motorcycles. First of all, foam earplugs completely seal the ear canal, dampening not only wind noise but also your navigation device, intercom and other road traffic.
